Welcome back to day 3 of our New Year's jump start to becoming your "Best Me Ever"! I hope you're as committed as I am to moving forward and making your goals a reality this year as I am! Did you just join us? If so, please read the posts from the two previous days and feel free to jump right in with both feet.
If you've been reading so far, did you identify your most important goal for this year? Did you list at least 3 obstacles that stand in your way and at least three actions that you need to take to move toward this goal in 2009?
Thought for the Day:
Intuition will tell the thinking mind where to look next. - Jonas Salk
Today's Action Challenge:
Brian Tracy (who's excellent new book Flight Plan I just finished today!) talks about "mindstorming" which is a technique for accessing your inner resources for creative new ways to get what you want in life.
The technique works this way:
- Take out a blank sheet of paper and write your most important goal at the top of the page in the form of a question. For example, "How can I lose 20 lbs in the next 3 months?" or "How can I double my income this year?" whatever is your goal number one goal for 2009.
- Then you write down 20 answers to the question. Tracy notes (and it's true!) that the first five or so will come to you easily, the second five are more difficult and the last 10 can be downright painful...but often that is where your inner brilliance comes up with something that you might not have considered before. Something "out of the box".
- Then review your answers and see which one's seem the most plausible, which ones you could act on immediately -- and do something right away. Tony Robbins is fond of saying "never leave the site of a goal setting without taking some kind of immediate action -- no matter what"
If your major 2009 goal is weight loss your list might include items like:
- Commit to getting up an hour earlier to workout
- Commit to a minimum of 30 minutes of activity every day for the next 2 weeks -- no matter what
- Throw out all the junk food in your pantry and fridge
- Go for a walk on your lunch hour and then eat lunch at your desk
- Call Jane and ask her to commit to a weight loss program with me
- Order The Best Me Ever and start doing the program every day ;-).
Whatever your main 2009 goal -- do your mindstorming today and commit to writing down at least 20 answers.
