I personally believe that the squat is such a great exercise and so adaptable to every fitness level that is should be an essential exercise in virtually everyone's fitness program.
Done properly squats can improve muscular strength, endurance and hip and ankle mobility. From the body weight squat with a towel to the front squat with heavy weight, to single leg squats...there's a squat variation for virtually every fitness level and every goal.
